There is a kind of happiness that has nothing to do with circumstances. Not the pleasure of getting what you want or the relief of avoiding what you fear — something more fundamental. A brightness in consciousness itself, a natural curiosity about what is here, a delight that does not need a reason.
Most people remember it from childhood. Few recognize that it never actually left.
The Work
The Yellow Latifa is the quality of essential joy — not excitement, not entertainment, not the manufactured positivity of someone trying to stay upbeat. It is the natural radiance of consciousness when it is free to explore without agenda.
When this quality is lost — and for most of us it dimmed gradually under the weight of seriousness, responsibility, and the belief that life is fundamentally a problem to be solved — the personality steps in with substitutes. False joy: distraction, stimulation, the compulsive search for the next interesting thing, or the resigned conclusion that genuine delight belongs to a younger self.
In this retreat we work directly with what buried the joy. Where curiosity was punished, where spontaneity became unsafe, where the world stopped being interesting and started being merely manageable. The territory includes boredom, cynicism, the fear of lightness — not as problems to fix but as signposts pointing back toward something that was never actually destroyed.
When the heaviness lifts, something returns that was always there. Not naivety — a mature wonder. The capacity to be genuinely interested in what is here, right now, without needing it to be anything other than what it is.
The Format
This is a residential retreat. When you step out of ordinary life for several days, something becomes available that isn't available otherwise. The usual supports fall away. What remains is closer to what is actually true.
Each day includes teaching and guided self-inquiry. The teaching is precise — it maps the territory of the Yellow Latifa, its obstructions, its movement. But this is not a seminar. The Logos — the teaching itself — carries a direct transmission. Something in the words, when received in the right conditions, does not merely inform. It activates.
Self-inquiry then works with what has been activated. The understanding that emerges is not added to what you already know. It moves through you differently.
Who This Is For
This retreat is for people who have done inner work and want to go deeper. Prior experience with meditation, inquiry, or psychological work is expected. You need to be willing to look honestly at yourself — at where you have become heavy, where you have stopped being curious, and what you have been afraid to enjoy.
This is not an introduction to the work.
