The Work

The Black Latifa expresses itself as two faces of one quality: peace and power. Not opposites, two phases of the same depth. When a person contacts this quality, they discover that genuine peace is the most powerful state a human being can inhabit. And genuine power, not the kind that pushes or dominates, is the deepest peace.

When this quality is lost, the personality splits it. Power becomes control, aggression, domination, the attempt to force life into a shape. Peace becomes withdrawal, numbness, spiritual bypassing, the attempt to escape life altogether. The person oscillates between the two, never arriving at either.

In this retreat we work directly with both sides. Where the power has been distorted, used by the ego to maintain control rather than to simply be. Where the peace has been falsified, used as a defence against feeling rather than as the ground of all feeling. The territory includes the fear of powerlessness, the addiction to activity, the confusion between stillness and collapse, and the hatred that emerges when we feel unable to change what hurts.

When the distortions soften, something becomes available that was always here. A presence that does not need to do anything and yet is utterly alive. Power without aggression. Peace without withdrawal. The ground from which all other qualities arise and to which they return.

The Format

This is a residential retreat. When you step out of ordinary life for several days, something becomes available that isn't available otherwise. The usual supports fall away. What remains is closer to what is actually true.

Each day includes teaching and guided self-inquiry. The teaching is precise, it maps the territory of the Black Latifa, its obstructions, its movement. But this is not a seminar. The Logos, the teaching itself, carries a direct transmission. Something in the words, when received in the right conditions, does not merely inform. It activates.

Self-inquiry then works with what has been activated. The understanding that emerges is not added to what you already know. It moves through you differently.

Who This Is For

This retreat is for people who have done inner work and want to go deeper. Prior experience with meditation, inquiry, or psychological work is expected. You need to be willing to sit with what arises when the activity stops, with what has been hiding in the silence you have been avoiding.

This is not an introduction to the work.
